Yonsei University Clinches Victory at the 2024 AUBC

From November 28 to December 1, the 2024 Asian University Basketball Championship (AUBC), organized by Realeague, was successfully held at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre in Hong Kong, China. The electrifying-competitions united six of Asia’s most elite university teams: City University of Hong Kong (home team), China’s Tsinghua University and Peking University, South Korea’s Yonsei University and Konkuk University, and Japan’s Rikkyo University.

After four days of intense competition and nine thrilling games, Yonsei University rose to the top, claiming the championship title with an impressive undefeated run. Peking University and Tsinghua University rounded out the podium in second and third places, respectively.

The Future of Asian University Basketball Begins Here

As the 2024 AUBC concluded, Realeague set its sight on a new journey. Starting in 2025, the Asian University Basketball League (AUBL) will officially launch its inaugural season, marking a significant milestone in advancing university basketball across Asia.

We firmly believe that Asian university basketball holds immense untapped potential. The seeds we plant today will grow into a flourishing tree over the next decade. Together, let us look forward to the day when the dream of “the future of Asian basketball” takes root and blossoms.

    A Celebration of Cultural Exchanges

Beyond the fierce battles on the court, it was also a stage for cultural exchange and camaraderie. Between games, players explored some of Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks, including Victoria Peak, Victoria Harbour, and the Golden Bauhinia Square.

    Basketball for a Greater Cause

During AUBC, Realeague partnered with the InspiringHK Sports Foundation to host a series of basketball training camps. 40 young athletes from the “WELL DUNK!” basketball program joined the camps and were guided by university coaches, players, and Realeague’s  basketball development team.

In addition, Realeague donated HKD$100,000 to InspiringHK to further their mission of empowering underprivileged children and youth with special educational needs through high-quality sports programs. This initiative underscored AUBC’s profound social impact and Realeague’s  dedication to building a more inclusive future for sports.
